My Homeland Trip 4/27/09

I was thrilled with my Homeland trip today! Especially since I was able to get my hubby's cereal (he likes all the healthy stuff) for such a great price, along with some of my meat for next week's menus, some treats for my kiddos AND some stuff to donate...all in one trip! Remember, I always do TWO transactions.

Here's what I got:

(6) Boxes Kashi Cereal
(2) Boxes Kelloggs Frosted Mini Wheats
(2) Hunts Ketchup
(4) Powerades
(8) Chef Boyardee Ravioli
(1) Sunny Delight
(2) Caprisun Sun Rise 10packs
(2) Splenda 50ct.
(4) Bagelfuls
(2) Totinos Pizza Rolls
(3) Rice A Roni
(6) Old El Paso Heat n Serve Sides (black beans)
(2) Dozen eggs
(1) Oscar Mayer Deli Creations
(2) Hot Pockets Flat Bread Items
(1) Chuck Roast 3.5 lbs
(2) Packages Chuck Tender Steak
(4) Suave Shampoo/Conditioner
(2) Softsoap Liquid hand soap
(1) Sure Deodorant
(1) Huggies Nourishing Lotions (clearance)
(2) Johnsons Baby Powder 4oz

Total before coupons: $102.67 (tax included)

Coupons used: $30.00
Coupons doubled: $24.80

Total OOP: $47.87 (tax included)

That's a savings of 53%. Keep in mind that my One Card Savings is NOT included in this. The way I look at it, Homeland is SO expensive that the One Card savings just adjusts Homeland's pricing to compete better with Walmart & Crest. So not including that amount gives a more accurate calculation of savings. Imagine saving 53% at Walmart!

I also received a Catalina for $3.00 off my next beef or chicken purchase! Check
HERE for more details.

Can you explain more about why you do 2 transactions at Homeland? I am fairly new to shopping at Homeland and am wondering if I need to start doing this also. Thanks.

Homeland's coupon policy states that they will double coupons $1.00 and under BUT only the first of "like" coupons. So if you have two boxes of cheerios and two $1.00 off coupons, the first will double to $2.00, the second will only give you $1.00 off. By doing two transactions, you can take advantage of more deals by having all your coupons double. This is subject to store policy. The stores I shop are extremely helpful and understanding. I have heard that others are not so easy going...so you may have to make two trips rather than do back to back transactions.
