Homeland Coupon Policy Update ~

Word on the street is that Homeland Corporate is cracking down on the stores that are allowing DND coupons to be doubled. So store managers are trying to keep an eye on cashiers and are reminding them to examine coupons and hit the "DND" button.

I don't fully understand this since I was told directly by a representative at Corporate that Homeland does not get reimbursed for the "double" portion of coupon discounts. So it shouldn't make a difference whether the coupon says DND or not.

Nonetheless, keep this in mind when printing coupons. General Mills printable coupons (this means Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Yoplait, Totinos, Progresso, etc.) are almost ALWAYS DND. I would only print these if you hear of a great deal that does not depend on doubling or if you are brand loyal to these products.

I asked a Homeland employee why manufacturers sometimes don't want their coupon to be doubled and he said it was because they don't want all the coupons they released to be redeemed by customers. I think they should just release less coupons then, but they just put 'do not double' instead hoping alot of people won't use it since it makes a 'deal' less of a deal.

Hmmm....I was talking to a Kraft rep the other day and he was saying that only about 5% of coupons actually get redeemed. The manufacturers look at coupons more like advertising...so there may be some truth to that little scheme. Who knows! ~Amanda
