Upromise is a free program that pays you to shop online through their links and when using your grocery and drugstore loyalty cards. The money you earn is put into a Upromise College Savings Account, then you can decide whether you want to let it grow tax free in a 529 plan or if you want to request a check for college expenses.

There are several ways to save:

Shop Online: Earn 1 – 25% by shopping online through Upromise. Just go to the Upromise site, click through to any retailer, make an eligible purchase and pay any way you like. Savings are automatically deposited into your Upromise account!

Eat at Participating Restaurants: Earn up to 8% when you eat out as a Preferred Diner. First, register your credit or debit cards on the Upromise site. Eat out at nearly 9,000 participating restaurants nationwide when they are offering college savings and pay with a credit/debit card you’ve registered with Upromise. Up to 8% of your total bill – including tax & tip will be deposited into your Upromise account!

Shop at Grocery and Drug Stores: Save when you buy everyday basics! First, register your grocery and drugstore loyalty cards. Purchase participating items and scan your registered grocery or drugstore card at checkout. You’ll earn savings on thousands of eligible items at participating grocery and drug store locations nationwide.

Use e-Coupons: Upromise updates their site at the first of every month with lots of coupons from makers of various food and household products. Select the coupons you want to use on the Upromise site. Then when you buy the participating products at the store using your loyalty card, the value of the e-coupons will be added to your Upromise account! So, instead of the coupon taking money off your grocery bill, it adds money to your college savings account! Plus, you can still use a manufacturer’s coupon when using an e-coupon. The e-coupons are updated monthly with a value of up to $25!

Invite Family and Friends: Inviting family and friends is one of the best ways to increase your Upromise savings. When they join they can choose to have their savings automatically transfer to you. They can even decide what percent of their savings to share! Members who have family and friends helping them save earn over 2x as much as members who don’t!
